What's on in Auckland this week

Going to events is a good way to meet people as well as learn more about NZ culture. Here are some ideas for things to do this week.

Wednesday the 20th

Summer Zoo Lates at Auckland Zoo, 4:15-7:30pm, entry costs $15. See the animals at Auckland Zoo for longer! On every Wednesday until the 20th of March, the zoo will be open until 7:30pm. Thursday the 21st

Alliance Francaise French Film Festival at Rialto Cinema (167-169 Broadway, Newmarket), tickets are $13.50 with student ID. From the 21st of February to the 10th of March, a range of French films will be shown at Rialto Cinema. Friday the 22nd

Auckland Lantern Festival, Albert Park in 5-10:30pm, free entry. One of Auckland's most iconic festivals, with food stalls, bands, and performances. Saturday the 23rd

Rice and Beans Festival at Silo Park, 12-6pm, free entry. A celebration of Latin, Caribbean and Brazilian food, music and culture. This looks like a great way to learn a bit more about new cultures or make you feel less homesick. Lantern Festival Late Nights at the Auckland Art Gallery, 10am-10pm, free entry. A range of events celebrating Chinese culture will be on at the Auckland Art Gallery throughout the day. These include a performance from the Shanghai Starlight Acrobatic Troupe at 12pm and a demonstration of the traditional Chinese tea ceremony at 2pm. Sunday the 24th
